About Us

AC Birkle is a family-run farm for Holstein cows. Andrew (the proprietor) was born on the farm and has run the farm with the help of his wife and two sons (Leo and Sean), building the herd of cows over the last 50 years. Leo mainly concentrates on the cow side of the business with Sean who also helps a lot during the winter, though he runs his own contracting business.

The cows are milked twice a day in a GEA2020 Herringbone parlour. Our farm's milk is sent to Freshways where they process it in London for use in the liquid market as we know it today.

The Whinchat herd has been a master breeder herd twice in both 2011 and 2021. Our Whinchat herd also achieved “Holstein UK'S Prestigious Premier Herd” in 2016.

After two successful reduction sales in 2020 and 2022, cattle were sold to breeders all over the country and abroad with much positive feedback received from those breeders.
